‘First impressions’

I got my eyes on this post purely by accident. But it makes a good reading, and no matter how diplomatically foreign friends – yours or mine – described it to you, India is ‘different’, ‘interesting’ and so on, this is one accurate “first impressions” of my country I have read.

Quoting this traveller’s impressions on my pet topic – Indian Traffic:

… The taxi driver had what I like to call the commando-with-a-death-wish style of driving. He zipped through the traffic like a barracuda through a school of fish. Whenever he got blocked by other cars three lane roads magically transformed into five lane roads. He slipped through the narrowest of gaps and took care never to leave more than an inch of space between his own car and potentially fatal obstructions. …
